Chocolate waffles

March 25. is the international waffle day, and on that occasion, I decided to try a new recipe for chocolate waffles.

I made them before picking up my son in daycare. Normally when we get home, he just wants to be very close to me, so it can e difficult to do anything other than just play and cuddle with him. So when daddy came home I served the waffles with whipped cream and homemade citrus jam, to everybody's big satisfaction.

The method is simple and looks a lot like all my other (upcoming) waffle recipes. But it has taken some time to find the perfect chocolate waffle. To balance the sweet and bitter and make sure that the cocoa powder, didn't make them dry.

Ingredients

200 g cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

65 g brown sugar

2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

50 g chopped chocolate

2,5 dl milk

2 eggs

4 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions:

Preheat your waffle iron, and stir together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa. Stir in milk, eggs, and butter, in a mixing bowl until the mixture is smooth. Add the chopped chocolate and scoop the dough onto the warm waffle iron, and bake for a couple of minutes.
